Neil Young & The Ducks:  Little Wing  (440 plays)

angstpenis:

"Little Wing" //  Neil Young & The Ducks // Summer 1977, Santa Cruz, CA

The Ducks were a short-lived band of Neil Young, Bob Mosley, Jeff Blackburn and Johnny C (Craviotto) in the late ’70s. The band played a series of impromptu bar gigs around the Santa Cruz area in 1977. Neil Young had an exclusive touring contract with his usual backing band ‘Crazy Horse’. This meant The Ducks had to confine their playing to the city limits of Santa Cruz. The whole thing lasted a mere seven weeks. The Ducks continued on for a while without Young and held out hope that he might return, but it never happened.

No official releases were ever made. No bootleg soundboard recordings of live shows were circulated for over 30 years.

Thao & the Get Down Stay DownBrand New Key

I rode my bicycle past your window last night
I roller skated to your door at the light
It almost seems like you’re avoiding me
I’m okay alone, but you’ve got something I need
Well, I’ve got a brand new pair of roller skates
You’ve got a brand new key

As David said to Lisa, you’re a pearl of a girl, this is a pearl of a song to me and to hear it from Thao, with an Asian accent, and the extra circusy production, well, I am at a loss for words.
